Visa & Entry
Entering Egypt is simpler than most travellers expect, but getting the details right saves you time and stress at the airport.
Tour Egypt Club Editorial
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports and many land borders. Citizens of around 180 countries qualify, including the USA, UK, EU states, Canada and Australia. Passport holders from some African and Middle Eastern countries are exempt entirely.
Visa on Arrival
At Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh and Luxor airports, single-entry tourist visas are issued at bank counters before passport control. Have cash ready — USD, EUR or GBP are accepted — and keep the visa sticker safe until you leave.
The eVisa Option
- Apply online at the official Egypt eVisa portal before travelling
- Single or multiple entry (30 days) both available
- Approved eVisa is valid for 3 months
- No stamping queues — you pass straight through
Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. This is the most common reason for denied boarding — check before you fly.
Download a copy of your visa or reservation on your phone. Officers at land borders sometimes ask to see your return ticket and hotel booking.
